January 1998 Flood and Ice Storm
Record flooding and heavy ice accumulations plagued Western,
Central, and Northern New York during the second week of January.
Numerous road closures made travel tricky, and
states of emergency were declared in Jefferson, Lewis, and Wyoming Counties
for ice storm-related hazards.
