 (5/24/2002)  New Radio Voice.  The Buffalo NWS will begin implementing new voices for NOAA Weather Radio in Western and North Central New York beginning the week of May 27th.

 (5/09/2002)  New York State Ozone Health Advisory.  The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is responsible for issuing the New York State Ozone Health Advisory. They update the status on a daily basis.

 (5/09/2002)  UltraViolet Forecast.  The UltraViolet Index  forecast is now available. This product is updated daily.

 (5/08/2002)  Hurricane Awareness Week.   Hurricane Awareness Week  is May 19 through May 25, 2002.

 (5/07/2002)  Storms of April 28.  A review of the April 28 storms which affected Western New York is now available.

 (5/07/2002)  National Safe Boating Week.   National Safe Boating Week  is May 18 through May 24, 2002.

 (5/06/2002)  2001-2002 Winter Season.  A Review of the Western New York 2001-2002 Winter Season is now available. A summary of the WFO Buffalo Snowspotter Network is included.

 (4/11/2002)  Lightning Safety Awareness Week.   National Lightning Safety Awareness Week is April 28 through May 4, 2002.

 (4/11/2002)  Tours.  Tours of the Buffalo NWS can once again be accomodated.  Tours can be arranged online. Requests can also be made through e-mail, telephone, or in writing. Please refer to our tour policy for further details of touring our facility.

 (4/10/2002)  "The Front".  "The Front" is a Newsletter dedicated to Aviation Weather. "The Front" strives to enhance aviation safety by increasing a pilots knowledge of weather systems and processes and National Weather Service products and services.

 (4/5/2002)  Records and Normals.  The current day normals and records are posted for Buffalo and Rochester. The page has been updated to allow access to daily normals and records for Buffalo and Rochester.

  (3/20/2002)  Advanced Hydrologic Prediction System (AHPS).   The Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service (AHPS) provides new forecast products (including visual displays) depicting the magnitude and uncertainty of occurrence for hydrologic events from hours to days to weeks. Existing National Weather Service river forecasts generally provide only short-term (1,2, or 3 day) deterministic forecast products.  

 (3/15/2002)  Weather Hazards Awareness Week.  Governor George Pataki has proclaimed the week of March 17-23 as Weather Hazards Awareness Week in the Empire State. The National Weather Service joins with the Governor and the agencies of the State Disaster Preparedness Commission in promoting severe weather safety to all New Yorkers. 

 (1/3/2002)  Probabilistic Quantitative Snowfall Forecast (PQSF).  The Probabilistic Quantitative Snowfall Forecast (PQSF) displays the probability that select snowfall amounts will occur in two metropolitan locations in the Buffalo, NY County Warning Area (CWA) during the first 12-hour period of the upcoming forecast.  These cities are Buffalo and Rochester, NY. 

 (1/2/2002)  New Normals (1971-2000).  On January 1 2002, new climatic normals will go into effect for Buffalo and Rochester. The new normals (which were derived from data collected between January 1, 1971 to December 31, 2000) are compared to the old 1961-1990 normals.
